Our ultimate goal is to show the image of every coin on our list. This is an enormous task that is only made possible by the contributions of collectors from around the globe. Since we have been asked so many times about a good scanning method to use, we thought we'd include some typical instructions here. This technique has been successful for us, but you may have to experiment with your own scanner and software to find a good method for yourself.
Please send a scan of the coins you report, if possible.

Scanning Tips:

Step 1: Gather all the coins from a single machine and scan as a group. This makes it easy for us to organize them.

Step 2: Arrange the coins diagonally. Scanning the coins vertically tends to cause a bright spot at the tail of the coin due to its curvature. Horizontal scans can tend to wash out the detail.

Step 3: Scan in color at 200-300 dpi and save it as a JPG. This will make the images large enough to show the detail.

Step 4: Attach the file to an email along with any location information we may be missing. Please do not ZIP the file. Send a single email for each location.
