We have designed several new PennyCollector books for the 2006 smashing season including this First Edition San Francisco book with its one-of-a-kind coin sealed on
the cover featuring the image of a Cable Car. The cover shows these four photos:
1) Lombard Street - America's crookedest street. What does this mean? The steep, hilly street was created with sharp curves to switchback down the one-way hill past beautiful Victorian
mansions. The street is paved with bricks and is an amazing site to see.
2) Pier 39 - There is something for everyone at PIER 39, San Francisco's Premier Bay Attraction, a festival marketplace with more than 110 stores, 13 Bay view restaurants, and a variety
of fun-filled attractions for all ages including world-renowned sea lions, street performers and live daily entertainment.
3) Alcatraz - Out in the middle of the San Francisco Bay, the island of Alcatraz is a world unto itself. Alcatraz Island is one of Golden Gate National Recreation Area's most popular destinations,
offering a close-up look at a historic and infamous federal prison long off-limits to the public. Visitors to the island cannot only explore the remnants of the prison, but can also learn about the
Indian occupation of 1969 - 1971, early military fortifications (the first U.S. fort on the coast), and the West Coast's first (and oldest operating) lighthouse.
4) Redwood Trees - Superlatives abound when a person tries to describe old-growth redwoods: immense, ancient, stately, mysterious, powerful. From a seed no bigger than one from a tomato,
California's coast redwood (Sequoia semperviren) may grow to a height of 367 feet and have a width of 22 feet at its base. The cool, moist air created by the Pacific Ocean keeps the trees continually
damp, even during summer droughts. These conditions have existed for some time, as the redwoods go back 20 million years in their present range.
